Grounded in the eight-phase EMDR treatment model and Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) theory\, this training blends didactic instruction\, live demonstration\, supervised practicums\, and case consultation to ensure clinicians are competent and confident in applying EMDR with clients. \nTraining Structure \nEMDR Basic Training consists of two intensive three-day modules delivered in person at our Colchester training facility\, plus required consultation hours between modules. \nPart 1: March 13–15\, 2026 (Fri–Sun) \nParticipants will develop a strong foundation in AIP theory\, core principles of EMDR therapy\, and the standard eight-phase protocol. Part 1 emphasizes readiness assessment\, stabilization\, resourcing\, and guided practice sessions. \nPart 2: May 8–10\, 2026 (Fri–Sun) \nBuilding on Part 1\, this weekend focuses on advanced applications\, working with complex trauma\, blocked processing\, dissociation-informed strategies\, and modifications for diverse clinical populations. Further supervised practice enhances mastery of EMDR procedures. \nRequired Consultation (10 Hours) \nBetween Part 1 and Part 2\, participants will complete five two-hour group consultation sessions via Zoom. These sessions (dates/time TBD) are led by an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant and are a required component of EMDRIA Basic Training. \nLearning Objectives \nBy the end of the program\, participants will be able to: \n-Explain the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and its relevance to trauma treatment. \n-Implement all eight phases of EMDR therapy\, including assessment\, desensitization\, installation\, and closure. \n-Conduct EMDR preparation and stabilization techniques to ensure client readiness. \n-Apply EMDR procedures safely with a variety of clinical presentations. \n-Identify and manage blocked processing\, dissociation\, and other complexities. \n-Integrate EMDR into ongoing treatment planning and case conceptualization. \nCE Information \nThis program offers Continuing Education credits for social workers and mental health counselors. Participants must complete both parts and all required consultation hours to receive a certificate of completion. \nWho Should Attend \nThis training is designed for licensed or pre-licensed mental health professionals—including social workers\, counselors\, psychologists\, and marriage and family therapists—who wish to earn EMDR Basic Training certification and incorporate EMDR therapy into clinical practice. \nLocation \nAll in-person sessions will be held at: \nThe Summit \n19 Roosevelt Highway (2nd floor) \nColchester\, VT 05446 \nThe venue has free parking\, is accessible by elevator\, and has access to a kitchen with refrigerator\, microwave\, sink\, and K-cup coffee machine. \nRegistration \nSpace is limited to maintain an optimal practice-to-instruction ratio.

SUMMARY:Analytic Psychotherapy in “The Plague Year”: Mixing Memory and Desire
DESCRIPTION:Program Title: Analytic Psychotherapy in “The Plague Year”: Mixing Memory and Desire \nProvider: The Wellness Collaborative \nPresenter: Peter Burmeister\, MA\, Pre-licensed psychotherapist and psychologist \nDelivery Format: \nLive synchronous training. Participants may attend either in person at The Summit\, 19 Roosevelt Highway\, Colchester\, VT\, or virtually via live interactive webinar. Real-time participation and discussion are included. \nContinuing Education Credit: 1.5 ASWB CE Hours \nProgram Description \nThis 90-minute live training examines psychoanalytic and depth-psychological perspectives relevant to clinical work with anxiety\, uncertainty\, and collective stress. Using the metaphor of “The Plague Year” and the COVID-19 pandemic as contextual reference points\, the program explores foundational and contemporary theories of the unconscious and their application to psychotherapy practice. \nThe training compares Freud’s topographical model of the psyche with Jung’s conceptualization of the unconscious as both retrospective and anticipatory. Additional concepts include Wilfred Bion’s theory of reverie in the analytic encounter\, Robert Langs’ perspectives on death and unconscious communication\, Jean Gebser’s epistemological constructs\, and integrative reflections connecting analytic theory with contemplative traditions. Emphasis is placed on clinical relevance and the therapeutic relationship\, particularly in work with clients experiencing existential anxiety\, ambiguity\, and collective trauma. \nParticipants will examine how large-scale external stressors may activate unconscious processes and will explore relational and analytic techniques that support attunement\, symbolic thinking\, and reflective clinical presence. \nLearning Objectives \nAt the conclusion of this program\, participants will be able to: \n\nDifferentiate Freud’s and Jung’s conceptualizations of the unconscious and describe their implications for psychotherapy practice.\nExplain Wilfred Bion’s concept of reverie and apply it to clinical work with clients experiencing anxiety and uncertainty.\nIdentify ways in which collective stressors (e.g.\, pandemics\, sociocultural instability) may activate unconscious processes in clients.\nApply analytic and relational principles to enhance therapeutic attunement and clinical responsiveness in sessions addressing existential distress.\nTarget Audience: Licensed social workers\, counselors\, psychologists\, marriage and family therapists\, and other behavioral health professionals.\n\nLevel: Intermediate (foundational familiarity with psychodynamic theory recommended) \nContent Area: Clinical Practice \nAttendance & Certificate Policy \nParticipants must attend the full 90-minute live session and complete the program evaluation to receive CE credit. Certificates are issued immediately upon completion of attendance verification and evaluation. \nASWB Continuing Education Statement \nThe Wellness Collaborative is an approved provider of continuing education for social workers through the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. \nAs an ACE provider\, The Wellness Collaborative is authorized to offer continuing education courses that meet professional social work standards for ethics\, clinical practice\, supervision\, and professional development. \nOur approval as an ACE provider demonstrates that our programs meet rigorous standards for educational quality\, instructor qualifications\, and participant support. \nProvider Name: The Wellness Collaborative \nACE Provider Number: 2004 \nApproval Period: 5/30/2025-5/30/2028 \nRegulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. \nGrievance Policy: Complaints or grievances regarding this training may be submitted in writing to The Wellness Collaborative at [insert official contact email].
