Description

This session is a facilitated ethics training built around real clinical dilemmas. Rather than a lecture, the facilitator teaches a structured ethical decision-making model and then leads participants through applying it, step by step, to de-identified cases involving boundaries, confidentiality, technology use, dual relationships, and supervision. Participants may submit de-identified cases in advance for use as teaching material. The facilitator guides the analysis, connects each decision back to the applicable ethics code, and directs discussion and polling throughout to check understanding. You leave with a repeatable framework you can use the next time you are stuck, not just a conversation.

Learning objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply a recognized ethical decision-making model to a clinical case.
  2. Differentiate the legal, ethical, and moral dimensions of a practice dilemma.
  3. Analyze how personal values and situational context shape an ethical choice.
  4. Evaluate a proposed course of action against the applicable ethics code (NASW, ACA, APA, or AAMFT).
