Cyrus Patten

Cyrus Patten, Ed.D., LICSW, is a licensed independent clinical social worker and the founder of Wellness Collaborative, a professional home for therapists navigating the practical realities of clinical work. Licensed in Vermont, Connecticut, and New York, he writes about the issues clinicians actually run into: telehealth across state lines, interstate licensure compacts, HIPAA and compliance, clinical supervision, and the ethics of building a sustainable practice.

He holds a doctorate in leadership and policy from the University of Vermont, where his dissertation, Nonprofit Social Enterprise: Social Change in a New Economic Paradigm, is archived in the university’s ScholarWorks repository. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Colorado State University. He has served on the faculty of the University of Vermont and Champlain College, and currently teaches with the Vermont Leadership Institute.

Across two decades as a clinician, educator, and nonprofit leader, Cyrus has focused on making expert guidance accessible to the people doing the work — translating dense regulatory and licensing questions into answers therapists can actually use.

His clinical practice focuses primarily on male-identifying clients who are managing the pressures of traditional masculinity structures and looking to re-write those scripts. He works with clients in all 50 states individually and in groups settings through intensive men’s weekend retreats. Read more about his men’s therapy work here.
